FAQs
What is a Microgrid?
A microgrid is a localised energy system that can operate independently or in conjunction with the main power grid. It consists of various distributed energy resources (DERs) such as solar panels, wind turbines, batteries, and backup generators. Microgrids are designed to enhance energy reliability, efficiency, and sustainability by utilising local energy sources and reducing reliance on the central grid.
How do I know if I am a good fit?
Basically, if you have the space and ability to put more renewable generation and storage on your site than the grid allows, and you have to rely on grid connection to meet your demand, or diesel generators, then a Microgrid is for you.
What are the benefits of a Microgrid?
Energy Independence: Microgrids provide localised power generation, reducing dependence on the central grid.
Resilience: They enhance energy security by providing backup power during outages and natural disasters.
Sustainability: By integrating renewable energy sources, microgrids reduce carbon footprints and promote cleaner energy use.
Cost Savings: Efficient energy management and reduced transmission losses can lead to lower energy costs.
What renewables can I integrate?
With the Lugh system, basically, anything. We can integrate with and control wind, solar, BESS, AD, CHP, Hydro, we haven’t had need for Nuclear but we cannot see why not.
HV0 generators, diesel back up, all of it managed, controlled and optimised within a central energy solution.
I work in renewable solutions, how can you help me?
